WEconnect Peer recovery support specialists (PRSS) have either a state-recognized certification or a national credential. Peers are also encouraged to become NAADAC-certified within 6 months of hire. Requirements for obtaining a credential varies by state, but typically requires:
- 20-100 hours of peer work, signed off on by a supervisor
- Personal or lived recovery experience
- Passing score on a test demonstrating knowledge of recovery, treatment, and ethical boundaries
